 About Blackboard In April of 2000, Western University of Health Sciences acquired a site license to use Blackboard Inc.'s level one course management software to create and administer online learning materials for its on-campus courses.

The content management and page editing software enables faculty to disseminate subject matter over the Web anytime, anywhere, without HTML experience.

Alternative communication options (email, real-time chat area, asynchronous discussion boards, digital file drop box) enhance interaction among students and instructors.

Online quizzes, surveys, and test banks help to automate the assessment and evaluation of student progress.

An online grade book and other productivity tools reduce the amount of faculty time spent on "administrivia".
For these reasons and others, Blackboard (Bb) continues to play a pivotal role in Western University's strategy for establishing an online presence in health professions education.
