*FACP, a Fellowship at the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice, is a graduate program in pharmacy practice equal to the completion of two clinical specialties in pharmacy practice.

Description of academic/research interests:
Dr. Shankar's interests are in the area of pharmacotherapy related to Psychiatric disorders. His areas of expertise include Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression and Anxiety Disorders. In addition, Dr. Shankar has completed 1500 hours of advanced training in the areas of ambulatory cardiology (Hypertension, Heart Failure, Lipid Management and anticoagulation) as a part of his Pharmacist Clinician training along with a mini fellowship in Bipolar Disorder, Gero-Psychiatric behavior and Alzheimer's disease traineeships. His areas of clinical interest include natural products in Neuroscience and Gero-Psychiatry.

Rotation Description:
Psychiatry Clerkship is designed to provide various clinical experiences necessary to prepare students to become entry level practitioners. The students will be involved in direct patient care activities in a psychiatric care clinic setting and will have opportunities to work with other health care professionals in IDT meetings. The students are expected to serve as an integral member of the multidisciplinary health care team to provide drug therapy to patients and other health care professionals. Students are required to present medication groups to patients as well as a final presentation, which is given to the staff, faculty, and students at Olive Vista.
